Let Go

All too often we ruminate on our problems. We roll them over in our minds over and over, letting ourselves be overcome with worry and anxiety about solutions that we want but can’t seem to grasp. This can give us tunnel vision where our problems become all we see. This is a harsh world we live in today, folks. We’re constantly being slammed from one side or the other with something new to ponder upon.

A broken watch can’t be fixed if you keep wearing it. You must take it off and hand it over! Sometimes, the one who repairs it will not only fix it, but s/he will shine it up for you! Sometimes, you find out that you get a replacement, brand new at that! But you can’t get those things if you keep wearing the broken one day after day, refusing to take it off, clinging to it.
Our Problems Are Like The Broken Watch

We tend to wear them and cling to them and own them, thinking we can fix them on our own, or that they’ll go away if we just leave them there. Facing them head-on is terrifying!

Life just doesn’t work that way, though. Our problems will never go away by worrying and fretting. Guess what? God doesn’t want it to be like that for us, either! We have to take them off, just like the broken watch, and hand them over to the One who fixes it all…

What Does Scripture Say?

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 11:28-30
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

John 14:27
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Psalm 55:22
22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

Hebrews 13:5-6
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” 6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
